Good morning Ed Reynolds and staff:
Your company (Studebaker International) has supplied many of the parts for the restoration of my 1947 Studebaker Commander 4 door Regal Deluxe and I wanted to share with you and your company the end results.
I have been over 8 1/2 years in the process of performing a frame off restoration on this car. It started with a good '47 Commander from Minnesota. A one owner car with only 39,483 miles on it. When I got it home, mice had been in the interior as it was stored in a barn for 29 years, so I decided I would do a complete reupholstery job and put all new seals on the engine because if there were anyplace oil could leak, it did. With that I chose to pull the engine, however after pulling the engine, it also needed new wiring, so one thing lead to another to the point that I removed the body from the frame and started with the frame. Anything that would come apart, was taken apart and refurbished, replaced or renewed, whatever the case may be.
I didn't get to take it to Cedar Rapids this year, but plan to take it to Glendale Arizona in 2010. I have had it in several local meets and taken 1st place in all of them.
I want to personally thank you and your excellent staff for providing many, many of the parts needed to complete the restoration and what a pleasure it is to drive.
I'm 75 years old (retired) Quality Engineer for the Automotive Industry and have thoroughly enjoyed the time spent restoring this car in it's origional Winetone Maroon finish.
Thanks for all your help.
